Michael Femi Obasaju
Michael Femi ObasajuD.V.M ., M.V.M., Ph.D., HCLD (ABB), ELD (ABB), M.I .S.IVF / Andrology & Hormones Laboratory Director
Dr. Michael Femi Obasaju has been the Director of In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) & Andrology & Hormones Laboratories at New York Fertility Institute since 1997. Prior to working at the New York Fertility Institute, Dr. Obasaju was the Director of IVF laboratory at Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York from 1994 to1997. He was the Director of IVF Laboratory at the IVF America Program in Mineola, New York from 1989 to 1994. He was a post-doctoral research fellow in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, Davis from 1986 to 1989.

Dr. Obasaju obtained his Ph.D. in Comparative Pathology (Reproductive / Developmental Biology) from the University of California, Davis in 1986, a Masters in Veterinary Medicine (Veterinary Physiology) from the University of Glasgow, Scotland in 1981. Prior to that, he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 1977. The American Board of Bioanalysis (ABB) and the New York State Department of Health (Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Unit) certify him as a High Complexity Laboratory Director (HCLD) and Embryology Laboratory Director (ELD). In 2008 he received a Master of Information Systems from the University of Phoenix .

He has authored numerous publications in peer review journals in infertility and in basic sciences and has presented papers and has given lectures at national and international conferences. Presently he is a laboratory inspector for The American College of Pathologists (CAP) and a reviewer for the Reproductive Biomedicine Online scientific journal. Dr. Obasaju’s research interests include detection of sub-lethal damage to embryos, oocyte dysmorphisms, oocytes freezing, embryonic anueploidies and implantation

Gabriella Benhaghnazar

Ms. Gabriella Benhaghnazar is an essential part of our team. Simply THE BEST! She is our compassionate yet enthusiastic nurse. She graduated from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing Accelerated program in 2014 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science. While at Johns Hopkins, Gabriella was chosen to participate in the elite CAPP research program. She is a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine and is currently pursuing her certificate in Nursing Infertility and Endocrinology. Gabriella is the coordinator for all the IVF, donor and gestational carrier programs. Her stellar bedside manners allow her to provide comfort and care to our patients while they undergo treatment.
Kara Caputo
Kara CaputoPractice Manager, O.R. Coordinator
Ms. Kara Caputo Joined NYFI in 2000. Kara received her Associate Degree in Applied Sciences from New York City Technical College in Brooklyn, NY in 1991. She has worked in different areas of the medical field, such as a licensed Dental Hygienist for 9 years and has extensive experience working in operating rooms, as well as in patient care & management. Kara enjoys traveling and spending time with her nieces.
Halina Sharavaka

Ms. Halina Shatravka recently joined NYFI. Halina received her B.S. in Integrative Neuroscience from Fordham University in 2017. She has conducted research in immigrant health care and cognitive neuroscience. During her spare time, Halina enjoys bicycling, traveling, and drawing.

April Lazarus
April LazarusPractice Administrator
Mrs. April Lazarus has been with NYFI since 2008; her prior experience includes over 15 years of working in the medical field as a Medical Office Administrator, Laboratory Technician and Medical Assistant. She studied Psychology, Biology and Women’s Studies at SUNY Stony Brook University and Math and Medical Sciences at Nassau Community College. April has extensive knowledge of computers and computer technology, which she has used to implement Electronic Healthcare Information systems and programs. She is a HIPPA Compliancy Officer and a Licensed Notary Public in New York State. April enjoys creative baking and spending time with her family.
Chanel Freeman
Chanel FreemanB.A., B.S.N., R.N.
Ms. Chanel Freeman received her B.A in Psychology from Saint Bonaventure University in 2013, graduating cum laude. She received her B.S in Nursing (BSN) from Pace University in 2015, where she was distinguished as a Robert Wood Johnson Scholar. Chanel has been recognized for her research in Psychology and Nursing. She has coauthored a publication that was featured in The Global Journal of Health Science and led a Nursing Fall Prevention Bundle protocol that was implemented within the New York Presbyterian health system. During her spare time, Chanel continues to volunteer as a New York State certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), she also volunteers for events hosted by the American Cancer Society and she enjoys spending time with her family.
